About Us

At Principle Body Care, we believe great skincare starts with great ingredients—ones that come from nature, not a lab. Because let’s be real: too many skincare products read like a science experiment gone wrong. If you need a chemistry degree to understand what you’re putting on your face, something’s not right.

That’s why we set out on a mission to find the best plant-based ingredients the world has to offer. What we didn’t plan for? A plane trip heading in the wrong direction, a misunderstanding with a street vendor that almost got us banned from a marketplace (thanks, Kirk), and an incident involving a very grumpy gorilla. Oh, and our family beagle, who still thinks hibiscus is a food group.

The Adventure Begins

Armed with an overstuffed backpack and a questionable sense of direction, we set off. Our first stop should have been India, home of bakuchiol—the plant-based answer to retinol that helps smooth fine lines without irritation. Instead, we somehow ended up in Finland, where the only thing brightening our skin was the freezing wind.

Once we got actually on track, we made our way to Japan, where we discovered Japanese honeysuckle, a powerful natural preservative that keeps our formulas fresh without the need for harsh synthetic chemicals. Somewhere between marveling at ancient temples and taste-testing too much matcha, we also learned that bamboo extract is a skin-strengthening powerhouse, loaded with natural silica to keep skin firm and hydrated.

Next, we ventured deep into the Amazon rainforest, where we found Dragon’s Blood—no, not from an actual dragon (we checked). This rich, red tree resin has been used for centuries to calm irritation and protect the skin’s barrier. It was also during this leg of the trip that we almost had our gear stolen by a young and overly curious gorilla. Lesson learned (right, MOM?): never leave snacks unattended.

And then, of course, there was the hibiscus incident. While visiting Polynesia (where we found tamanu oil, known for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties), our beloved beagle, Kwest—who had been tagging along for the less complicated parts of the trip—decided that hibiscus flowers were his new favorite snack. No matter how many times we explained that hibiscus is for the face, not for feasting, he remained unconvinced.

Bringing It All Home

After miles of travel, countless cups of questionable local tea (my fault, I know), and only a few minor misadventures, we returned home—tired, inspired, and more determined than ever to create skincare with real, high-quality, plant-based ingredients. No fillers. No synthetic junk. Just the good stuff.

So if you’re looking for skincare that’s made with integrity, sustainability, and a little bit of adventure, welcome to Principle Body Care. No plane ticket (or gorilla encounters) required.

Cheers,

Scott
